About Social Sciences

Location

The department is located on the second floor of the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center, on the north side of campus adjacent to 12th Street. We have a central gathering area, conference room, and kitchenette that we use for social gatherings and classroom instruction.

Our department is working and focusing on these goals this academic year:

  • Creating an evaluation form to evaluate each others classes.
  • Creating a peer mentorship form clarifying Tenure and Promotion, to assist junior faculty.
  • Incorporating a Service-Learning component into our Senior Seminar class.
  • Holding a “pedagogy workshop” in which our department faculty can participate in.

About our Faculty

We have seven full time, tenure-tracked professors, with Ph.D. degrees in Political Science, History, and Sociology. Our faculty also includes adjunct professors who teach many of our lower division courses.

We offer baccalaureate degrees that can be attained in four years by doing either a Bachelors of Science (B.S.) and a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.)

Graduate Courses

The Department of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies also offers graduate courses in support of the Masters of Interdisciplinary Degree program and the Masters of Education.  They include Political Science, Sociology, and History courses.
